Yesterday as I was playing Rock Band, I was struck with the idea of trying to get the drum kit to register as a MIDI/electronic drum kit on my Mac. I looked all over on the support forums but didn't find a definitive answer on this. A quick google search produced this YouTube video:

Basically, after installing two drivers I was able to plug my Xbox 360 drum kit into my MacBook, and assign the drum pads to certain keys that you then use in the 'musical typing' function of Garageband.
It works perfectly (although I can hear a bit of a delay, time for a RAM upgrade), and the Rock Band drum kit is sold as a standalone piece for only $80.
